I Awoke Too Soon

Each night I lay and dream of you
In forests green under sky so blue
I feel your body close to mine
I feel our fingers as they entwine

I dreamt I asked you to share my life
I want to share your joy and strife
In fear bathed sweat I awoke too soon
And found you missing from my room

Within my head you set a plan
I know myself I am my man
I pass my soul for you to keep
To keep you warm when nights you sleep

And in that dream you gave a shove
You said to me you could not love
But then you smiled and said to me
You could not love…. probably

So I reached out to take your hand
And try to make you understand
Of what it was that let me know
You were the one my heart wants so

But I awoke to soon to say
The feelings that came about that day
The blanket love surrounding all
I'll be your man, I've heard the call

No more to live in fear of loss
My life is yours at any cost
My soul is yours, ready for inspection
Your love I'll cherish, don't fear rejection

So I awoke and found you there
So fast asleep without a care
And whilst you slept I watched a while
